A woman surnamed Li is being investigated by police in Beijing's Chaoyang district for ignoring warnings related to the prevention and control of infectious diseases and traveling into the city despite her exposure risk.

The woman, 30, left Beijing to attend a wedding on Friday. She returned to the capital on Monday but was flagged by Beijing Health Kit, a mobile app used to check health codes and provide testing services. It warned her she carried a risk of infection and said she should not return.

However, the woman ignored the warning and returned anyway, failing to report to her residential community, police said.

She was tested and the result came back positive on Tuesday.

Beijing reported 19 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, including 18 from quarantined locations and one at the community level, the Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control said on Wednesday.

The current round of the epidemic has been effectively contained even though new risks of imported infections remain, the center said.

Elsewhere, Universal Beijing Resort announced on Wednesday it will be temporarily closed because of requirements imposed by pandemic control. Closed areas include the theme park, Universal CityWalk Beijing and two hotels in the resort.

The resort said it will continue to follow control policies, assess impact on operations and make an effort to reopen as soon as possible. The park will offer refunds and rescheduling for people who bought tickets.

Disinfection and testing are being conducted there at present.
