The Bali Bridge Site in Tongzhou, Beijing
Post on 06/12/2024 | Bali Bridge | Hits:211

Bali Bridge is 50 meters long from north to south and 16 meters wide from east to west.

The Bali Bridge was built in the eleventh year of the Ming Dynasty's Zhengtong reign (1446 AD), running north-south and spanning the Tonghui River. It is a three arch stone bridge.

In history, there were two large-scale wars between China and foreign countries in this area. The first was in the tenth year of the Xianfeng reign (1860), when the British and French invading forces captured Tianjin and Tongzhou. The Qing government, in order to defend Beijing and block the invading forces here, carried out the Battle of Bali Bridge. The second was in the 26th year of the Guangxu reign (1900) when the Eight Nation Alliance invaded Beijing. The Boxer Rebellion dealt a fierce blow to the aggressors' arrogance at Bali Bridge.
