The Ming Dynasty Cliff Carving Statue Group in Shifo Village is located on a cliff in the north of Shifo Village, Yongding Town, Mentougou District, Beijing. It is the only large-scale cliff sculpture group in Beijing with a history of at least 500 years. Excavation began during the Ming Dynasty Shun period (1457-1464) and was completed in the eighth year of Jiajing (1529). The statue group is nestled in the shape of mountains and rocks, with a total of 17 niches and 19 statues. Most of these Buddha statues are carved in gourd shaped, circular, and rectangular niches.
